Unmanned Aerospace Wins U.S. Navy Contract

Unmanned Aerospace has been selected under the FY24 Operational Energy Capability Improvement Fund (OECIF) Commanding Energy Call for Proposals, securing three years of funding from the U.S. Navy.

The project, titled ENGAGED (Expeditionary Next Generation Autonomous Gyroplane Electric Demonstrator), is designed to advance the development of a hydrogen-electric uncrewed VTOL gyrocopter.

Selected as part of a competitive field, ENGAGED was named among this year’s awardees by the Director of Operational Energy – Innovation, alongside initiatives from NextG Gyroplane and USSOUTHCOM.

This multi-year funding underscores the Department of Defense’s commitment to scalable, clean-energy aircraft platforms that reduce operational energy costs while enhancing mission flexibility. The ENGAGED program builds upon Unmanned Aerospace’s GH-4 architecture — designed for vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL), ship-to-shore delivery and low-maintenance, long-endurance performance.

With continued investment and strategic alignment with Navy priorities, Unmanned Aerospace is advancing the next generation of energy-resilient, field-deployable rotorcraft solutions.
